The two seniors featured in this podcast are offensive lineman Robert Coyle and senior defensive back Esaun Mobley. In past seasons with the Devils, both athletes have received All-Conference awards. Coyle is a stalwart and has played almost each position within the offensive line; whereas, Mobley previously received accolades as a wide receiver, enters his final season to embrace the role of a defensive back.

Two players which possess a rare talent & provide joy to the FDU-Florham football program are senior wide receiver Malik Pressley & junior linebacker Isaiah Turner.  After Pressley makes a catch & eludes a defense he is described as a comet streaking through the galaxy. Whereas, Turner is a capricious linebacker, always creates havoc on an opposing offense, and was elected a tri-captain because of his exemplary character.

The most undervalued position in this period of hegemony are the Assistant Coaches at Montclair State!

Ms. Courtney Cunningham is the Associate Head Coach. Cunningham is in her 7th season for the Red Hawks. She is brains behind the strategy for Montclair State- the designed plays, game day adjustments, scouting reports, & watching film.

The Assistant Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator is Mr. Brian Sansom. Since Coach Sansom arrived on campus four seasons ago, his affable personality has enabled him to create relationships with prospective players, their families, high school & Amateur Athletic Coaches, and everyone in between.

EPISODE 65- D’ANGELO to JONES inside to TORRES for the JAM!

2015_MSUmBB-PODCAST-Black James D’Angelo, Kazim Jones, & Chris Torres represent the senior class for Head Coach Daren Rowe. As a point guard, D’Angelo rarely commits turnovers over & is considered a strong passer. Despite his 5′-10″ frame, the Long Valley, NJ native has proved to be assertive with the basketball, driving to the lane when needed.

In  his NCAA career, Kazim Jones has come of the bench to help the Red Hawks as a swingman guard & forward. The Newark, NJ native is one of the most coachable players on the roster. Each season he has added strength & quickness. Jones is described as a positive role model to the underclassmen & never complains! 

Chris Torres is a player who comes off the bench as a power forward.  When an opponent gains momentum against Montclair State, everyone at the Panzer Gymnasium knows who will enter the contest to show the Red Hawks refuse to be intimated! With a 6′-4″ frame, Chris creates opportunities by his aggressive approach on the floor, always relentless, never intimidated by the opposition.

2015_MSUwBB-PODCAST-BlackJanitza Aquino & Melissa Tobie have been the dynamic duo for the past three seasons for Head Coach Karin Harvey. The senior Red Hawks have each have netted over 1,000 individual points, won over 100 games, earned multiple conference titles, & NCAA Tournament victories will exit after this season. 

When Aquino releases the basketball, it defies gravity! She is unbelievable beyond the perimeter. Last January, the Kearny, NJ native nailed a miraculous (8) 3-point field goals, in a single half of a contest to set a school record! 

Tobie epitomizes the ideal of a student athlete. Number 22 is a once in a generation type of player. After graduation & meeting the University criteria, Melissa will earn her place in the pantheon of Red Hawk grandeur- The Montclair State University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Despite the success, their quest is the ultimate prize, a Division-III National Championship!

Brian admitted the penalties resulted in poor field position for the Devils. Coach mentioned one player can shut down an offense play. Despite being shutout, Surace concluded all three phases of team (offense, defense, & special teams) were not opportunistic to create a victory. 2014-MAURERTyler Mauer is the new ringmaster of the Devils aerial attack. The West Milford, NJ native briefly reminisces of his love for the gridiron. Tyler mentions what a quarterback has to prepare for when the offense elects to run the ball; a defense displays a blitz package; and the internal clock that is embedded in a signal-caller’s mind as a play develops. 2014-VAZZANORich Vazzano is one of the Devil  enforcers on defense. At 6′-2″ & 230 pounds of granite, the Sparta, NJ native has compiled 7 tackles in 2 contests. In addition, Vazzano garnered a sack of the quarterback in the opening game of the season. Rich discusses his birth onto the gridiron; the advantages of the Devils 4-3 defensive set. The Defensive Coordinator of FDU-Florham Scott Sperone described Vazzano as a good-guy who doesn’t cut corners. This bright young man plans to continue his education in the medical field!  (more…)

2014_MSUMBB_GoldsonSpenceSiOrdel Goldson, Michael Spence, & Daniel Singleton are the big men who drive inside the paint for the Montclair State University Men’s Basketball team. Each gentleman discussed their experiences of the hardwood; the people who they emulated; the contributions they furnished to the Red Hawk basketball program; individual improvements to help the team; the relentless offseason conditioning; & the team spent  holiday time to volunteer for urban city children at the recent Team Hill Tournament Classic.

Michael Spence (6′-10) is the obelisk of splendor for the Red Hawks as he has improved from last year. The center mentioned he doesn’t want to forget the disappointing season last year as a motivation tool for this season. Goldson (6′-7) the power-forward who is among the conference leaders in rebounding & scoring. Speaking of scoring,  Singleton (6′-4) just a few years ago was getting time off the bench. Presently, he is really considered a “Duce” for Head Coach Ted Fiore. As a starter, Singleton  just a pinch ahead of Goldson to lead the team in scoring.
