EPISODE 20- JEFFERS, HENRY, & TOBIE CAN A TRIPLE

EPISODE 2_MSU WThis podcast features three Red Hawk starters. (#5) Senior-TAYLOR JEFFERS; (#23) Junior NICOSIA HENRY; (#22) Sophmore MELISSA TOBIE.

The 3 ladies discussed their foray onto the hardwood; their influential people while playing basketball in their youth; their decision to select Montclair State University as a college; what individual areas they need to improve as players; feedback they would give for potiential collegiate basketball students; the experiences & memories they have as Red Hawk players.

In the last podcast, Head Coach Karin Harvey mentioned Jeffers had a natural progression from enetring a game off the bench for 3 seasons. Many players would refuse this invitation. Taylor worked her way onto the starting lineup this year.  In addition, Harvey described Taylor playing with more confidence.

Henry is considered a defensive demon & ignites the frontcourt press which exacerbates opponents attempting to advance the ball from their backcourt to forecourt. However, don’t underestimate her offensive drive to the glass. In two contests, she canned 16 points & was named Most Valuable Player of the 2012 Holiday Tournament, on the Red Hawk home court- at the Panzer Athletic Center.

Last season, Tobie earned the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie-of-the-Year award as a Freshman, & earned many more awards as well. This season, Harvey stated Melissa ‘could fill up a stat sheet’ has been very unselfish to say the least. Melissa stated she wanted to win a championship.

We’ll see the — MSU Womens Basketball team is an astounding 16-0 (NJAC 8-0).

Even the elder statesman-Taylor gave a correct answer to my trivia question– Who was BLAZE? Carol Blazejowski (class of 1978) was one of the finest athletes to play at Montclair State & professionally.
